(1) Typical village street. Some are paved. Parmjit with her brothet Mulkeet (10) and the farm worker fetching milk.

(2) Sitting on the bed. Note the village pond, the pile of dung cakes, drying, and the shrine in the distance.

(4) These women and girls were bringing Indian sweets around the village to celebrate the birth of a boy.

(5) Karam's neighbour and Parmjit, with water buffalo. They were watching the basket-maker at work.

(10) A local shopkeeper, with his five daughters. He is a member of the High School Committee.

(11) This carnival was held to celebrate the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last of the Sikh Gurus. The Guru Granth Sahib (the Sikh Holy Book) is being carried under the canopy. All heads must be covered.
